Director

Matthew Don Trapp is the Director of Government Relations at Fertilizer Canada, where he leads federal and provincial advocacy on behalf of Canada's fertilizer industry. His work focuses on advancing public policy that strengthens Canada's agricultural competitiveness, supply chains, food security, and innovation, while helping governments better understand the critical role fertilizer plays in feeding Canada and the world.
Before joining Fertilizer Canada, Matthew worked in politics and public affairs at both the federal and provincial levels, including for a minister in the Government of Ontario. Throughout his career, he has advised executives, industry leaders, and elected officials on government relations, public policy, and political strategy.
Beyond his professional career, Matthew serves as an infantry reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces, supporting his regiment's public affairs and recruitment efforts. He has also led numerous charitable fundraising and community initiatives benefiting veterans, animal welfare organizations, and food security programs.
An experienced political organizer, he remains active in federal and provincial politics and brings a passion for civic engagement, public dialogue, and community leadership.
Matthew lives in North Grenville on a hobby farm with his wife, son, and two pugs.
